A new batch of honed alloy steel tubes has cleared on-site client inspection at Lenser Metal, with the ID (inside diameter) surface honed to a mirror-smooth finish. The order — sized at Φ250 × 8M — has been released for packing and is ready for shipment to the client's hydraulic cylinder production line.
What the client came to verify
The client joined our workshop in person to witness the final honing stage and to validate surface roughness, dimensional tolerance, straightness, and roundness against their drawing. In a single visit we walked the inspector from raw seamless tube, through heat treatment and cold drawing, all the way to the precision honing line — and every tube passed on the first round.
Why honed, why mirror-grade
Honing is the last finishing step before the tube goes into a hydraulic cylinder. The abrasive stones remove only a few microns, but they lay down a controlled cross-hatch pattern that determines how the cylinder will behave for the next decade.
- Lower friction, longer seal life — Ra ≤ 0.2 μm keeps seals running cool.
- Stable oil film under high-pressure cycling — no stick-slip, no leaks.
- Tight geometry — roundness held within ≤ 0.03 mm for a Φ250 bore.
- Quieter operation in mobile and industrial hydraulic systems.
